Spitzengeschwindigkeiten werden beim Mobilen Internet im Idealfall dann erzielt, wenn sich ein User in einer Funkzelle befindet. Bei einer Pressekonferenz im Mai 2008 [...mehr...] wurden HSPA+ und LTE als Zukunftstechnologien gezeigt, die Showcases waren ein experimentelles Labor.
Ein Jahr später ist HSPA+ im Netz der mobilikom austria als Echtprodukt verfügbar.

Eigene Datenmodems notwendig; Technologie ist abwärtskompatibel, das Datenmodem kann in Gebieten ohne HSPA+ Versorgung auf die entsprechend verfügbare Technologie (HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE, ...) herunterschalten.

LTE steht für "Long Term Evolution und bedeutet mittelfristig mobile Hochgeschwindigkeiten bis zu 170 Mbit/Sek.
